Kaai Zeven

Kaai Zeven

Photography and film from Antwerp, for brands that would rather be looked at than advertised. Portfolio and reel, 2027.

One shoot, one light, two crafts: the still and the moving frame.

The studio in numbers

Eight people on the Kattendijkdok since 2019. Small enough that the person who pitches is the person behind the camera.

Point of view

Why we shoot stills and film together

Most campaigns are still made twice: a photographer on Monday, a film crew on Wednesday, two lighting plans and two moods that never quite match.

We think that split belongs to an older media plan. A brand in 2027 lives in a feed where the still, the six-second loop and the long film sit side by side, and the audience notices when they disagree.

So Nele and Samir light one set for both cameras. It costs less, and the work reads as one idea wherever it lands.

Reel, moving image

Ninety seconds from this year's commissions: fashion, fragrance, two hotel openings and a ferry that runs on batteries.

On set, after dark

Most of our film work happens between six and midnight. Antwerp gives us wet stone and sodium light for free.

Selected work

Four commissions, each shot as stills and film on the same days. What we made, and what it did for the client.

Atelier Vandael, knitwear collection

Two days in our daylight studio, 48 stills and a 40-second film from one lighting plan. Their wholesale orders for the collection rose by a third against the previous season.

Knit sweater on a plaster plinth

Hotel Dok Noord, opening

A new 64-room hotel on the docks, shot in the week before opening. The film ran on their booking page; direct bookings reached 41 percent in the first quarter.

Parfums Lievens, Basalt

A fragrance launched with six product films for vertical feeds and 12 campaign stills. Sold through its first production run in nine weeks.

Perfume bottle on wet basalt

Scheldeveer, the electric crossing

A short documentary on a battery ferry entering service. Shown at the city's opening ceremony and picked up by two broadcasters.

Stills from the dock studio

Six frames from this year's shoots, all lit with the same daylight wall we use for film.

How a commission runs

The same four movements whether the job is one day in the studio or three weeks on the road.

A conversation, not a pitch

Nele Verhaeghe or Samir El Idrissi reads your brief and calls within two working days. If we are wrong for it, we say so then.

A written treatment

References, a lighting idea, a shot list and a fixed estimate with usage priced separately. Usually within a week.

One set, two cameras

Stills and film shot together. Wout Peeters produces every day on set and holds the budget.

Grade, retouch, deliver

Ilse Janssens grades film and stills to one look. Every format you need, named and versioned, reviewed frame by frame online.

How to commission us

Bookings for spring 2028 open on 1 October 2027. Four things worth knowing before you write.

Send the brief

A page is enough: what it is for, where it will run, when it must exist. Write to Nele Verhaeghe at nele@kaaizeven.be.

Lead times

Studio shoots need three weeks. Location shoots abroad need six. We hold dates for ten working days once a treatment is sent.

What it costs

A combined stills and film day starts at EUR 14,860 excluding BTW at 21 percent. Usage is priced separately and always written down.

Visit the dock

Kattendijkdok-Westkaai 87, 2000 Antwerpen. Come and see the daylight wall on a Thursday afternoon; we keep them free for it.
